Trouble Logging In?
Library Catalog | Net Library (E-Books) | Remote Access | Library Computer Labs | Still Can't Log In?
The UAH Library offers access to a wide variety of resources. For security and verification reasons, many of these require a user name and/or password to access. Not all services use the same log-in information, so it is important to understand the differences. This page explains the procedures for logging in to some of the most commonly used library resources.
Library Catalog
The Library Catalog, iLink, can be accessed from either on or off campus by clicking the Books - E-Books link on the library home page. Current UAH students and faculty should log in with their University ID number in order to gain access to functions such as placing holds on books and placing Interlibrary Loan requests. Your University ID number will typically be your Banner Number, also known as your "A-Number". Click here to learn how to find your Banner Number. Non-UAH users may click the "I'm a Guest" button to enter the Catalog and gain access to general functions only.

Net Library (E-Books)
The UAH Library offers access to over 45,000 electronic books, available from NetLibrary. E-Books contain the same content as regular, hard-copy books, but can only be viewed online. You may search for E-Books through the UAH Library Catalog, iLink. Alternatively, scroll down on the Catalog log in page and click on "Just want to find E-Books?" to enter NetLibrary directly. You must create an account with NetLibrary in order to "check out" any E-Books. To do this, click on "Create a Free Account" in the upper right corner of the NetLibrary screen. In order to be recognized as a UAH user, the account must be created either from an on-campus location or while you are remotely logged in to the library resources. Once your account is created, you will be able to access and check out E-Books from any location, on or off-campus.

Remote Access
Remote access to online journals and databases is limited to current UAH students, faculty, and staff. When attempting to access these resources from off-campus, you will receive a message box asking for your Last Name and Banner ID number. Click here to learn how to find your Banner ID number. Alternatively, you can log in with your campus e-mail username and password. Click here to find out your UAH email address. In most cases, your UAH email password is initially set to be your first initial, last initial, and last four digits of your social security number. Click here to access the Remote Access page directly. To request assistance, please fill out our Remote Access Assistance Form. Please note that the computer networks in the dorms are configured to act the same way as off-campus locations, so you will be prompted to log in through the Remote Access gateway when accessing library resources from a dorm room.

Library Computer Labs
The following information applies to the sit-down workstations in the 1st Floor InfoArcade, as well as the workstations in the 2nd Floor Computer Labs.
When you sit down at the computer, you will probably see on your screen a box instructing you to press "CTRL-ALT-DEL." After you press those keys simultaneously, you will see a dialog box with three fields. By filling in the information in these fields, you can access your very own desktop where you can find class files and store the documents you create, not just for this semester, but for your entire time at UAH. Here's how to log on:
-
In the first field in the dialog box, enter your username. This will be the first part of your UAH assigned email account. Click here to look up your UAH email address.
NOTE: If you have notified UAH of another email address, your lab login will still be the UAH-assigned email address, the part before the @ sign.
-
In the second field, enter your password. The password is the last 4 digits of your new Banner ID (UAH ID number which begins with an A).
-
In the third field, you will see two choices. You should click on "TRIPOD." That choice accesses the library's server. The other choice would access just your workstation's hard drive.
If you still can't log in to access library resources, or if you have a log in question not addressed on this page, please call the Reference Desk at 256-824-6529. Alternatively, you may fill out our Ask a Librarian Form. For issues regarding off-campus database or journal access, please fill out our Remote Access Assistance Form.
