Reporting a Problem

Before contacting us for general information, be sure to visit our Frequently Asked Questions section of this web site.  For information pertaining to the Housing Residential Network or ResNET, please visit the ResNET web site at http://www.uah.edu/admin/resnet.  At both sites you'll find answers to the most commonly asked questions and quick fixes for the most common computer problems we see on campus.

Also, be sure to keep in mind that a few of our colleges have support personnel to help you.  If you are an employee or student of one of these colleges we encourage you to contact them first given they have a better understanding of the resources you need for you as a student or employee.  Here is some contact information that will help you get in touch with these folks...

Computer & Network Services is pleased to offer Help Desk services Monday-Friday - 8:15am-12:00pm / 1:00pm-5:00pm CST.

So we'll have a better record of your call, we ask that you contact us with your request at helpdesk@uah.edu whenever possible.

Be sure to include your:

  • Full Name

  • Email User-ID (if calling us to report an email related problem)

  • A daytime contact telephone number (or your phone number in the residence hall if you are one of our Housing residents)

  • Department Name (if you are a UAH Faculty or Staff employee reporting a problem with your UAH owned computer system)

  • Building and room number you are located (if you are a UAH Faculty or Staff employee reporting a problem with your UAH owned computer system)

  • A general description of your problem.

If email is not an option, you may reach our Help Desk by telephone at 256-824-2639 anytime during our normal business hours (listed above).

Cell Phone Users Should Note: Although we make every effort to answer your phone call, quite often our Help Desk experiences call volumes making it impossible to speak with you a the time of your call.  In this case you will be prompted to leave a voicemail message or to simply call us back at a later time.  One thing we began noticing last year, was as the popularity of cell phones increased, a number of our customers have been calling us with their cell phones, which is perfectly fine, but the only catch is the phones some use have service in another area code making calling these phones back a long distance call.  Calling these phones back would incur a long distance charge although the phone is actually local.  This doesn't make any sense, so we ask that if you have one of these phones, you contact us either via a landline phone or simply call us back at a time we can speak with you directly.
