WebCT ID and Password

To login to a WebCT course, you will need two pieces of information: a WebCT ID (or user name) and a password. The ID and password that you use for WebCT is the same as your UAH directory UserID and password.

How do I determine my UAH directory UserID and password?

UserID

In most cases, your directory UserID will be the first part of your email.uah.edu e-mail address (e.g., userid@email.uah.edu). If you do not know your UAH e-mail address, use one of the following options to find out what it is:

Option 1: Search the campus directory at http://www.uah.edu/cgi-bin/dirread.cgi. When you find your record in the directory, look for the UID entry. This is your UserID.

Option 2: Log in to the Online Student Registration System, http://register.uah.edu. After you login, click Personal Information and then click View E-mail Addresses. You should find your UAH e-mail address in a section labeled "Official UAH email assigned to student, faculty and staff."

Option 3: Search for your e-mail address at http://www.uah.edu/email.html

Option 4: Contact Charger Central at 824-7777 or chargercentral@email.uah.edu or visit them in the University Center, room 118. NOTE: Charger Central staff do not provide support for WebCT.

• If you are a new student, it may take a day or two after you have registered for your User ID to be established.
• If you are unable to determine your UserID, then fill out the WebCT Support Request form for assistance.

Password

If you've never changed your directory password, then it will be six characters consisting of your first initial, last initial (both lower case) and the last four digits of your social security number (SSN) (e.g., ab1234). If this password does not work, try using your full SSN without dashes (e.g., 123456789).

NOTE: Wireless network users and students in campus housing also use their directory UserID and password to access the campus network. If you've ever changed your password to login to the campus network, this is the password you will use to login to WebCT.

Logging in to WebCT

Once you have your WebCT ID and password, you are ready to login to WebCT.

1. Start your web browser (see next section for web browser information) and go to http://classweb.uah.edu 

2. Click the WebCT logo or the Login to WebCT link.

3. Enter your WebCT ID and password and click Log in. 

4. After logging in, you will see the myWebCT page. To access a course, click on the course title that you want to enter (under Courses). Notice that if you have multiple courses that use WebCT, they all appear here on the myWebCT page.

Note: You may log out of WebCT from the myWebCT page or from within any course. Just click the Log Out link in the upper right-hand corner of the window.
